A picture of some of our basement windows after being stuck in -35degree Celsius weather for 4 days.
Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. --Psalm 73:25,26

Something Only A Dad Can Do...
Trying on his new shirt and tie for his uncle's upcoming wedding. I love how my husband shows and takes such interest and care for his sons in moments like these. Precious for a wife/mother to see.

Dressed for the Weather?
Here's what the outside thermometer read this morning.
Here's what my 4 year old son decided to wear on this chilly December day--yes, those are his swimming trunks and his favorite green dinosaur T-shirt.

A Dog's Breakfast
It's cold right now. The temperatures at night are hovering around -30 degrees Celsius. Even though we have a Husky/Malamute dog (a breed that handles the cold VERY well) we can't help but feel a little compassion for our poor dog who has spent the night outside. Huskies also require a lot of attention and affection. When it's cold, we don't tend to go outside much to visit with the dog, so periodically we let Lincoln inside. Today we let him in while we were eating breakfast. Lincoln LOVES breakfast. Notice how he's always 'hovering' nearby while someone's eating? He's too polite to beg or demand anything--and he really doesn't need to. His size alone makes us quite aware of his presence.

Hello!
This fella came and hung out on our snowy front lawn for a few minutes late this afternoon. As soon as I opened the door to get a better picture, he turned and shot back into the bush. I certainly love seeing the wildlife here regularly. It never gets old.

When A Coffee Means the WORLD to You.....
Put a picture, on your blog, everyday, regarding something pertinent that has happened each individual day during the month of December. That's the December challenge here in blog land. I have decided to attempt to participate in that challenge this year. So here is today's.....
This evening we had to go out to my parents' chicken farm to vaccinate 11,000 chickens. It was -20 degrees outside, the barn door was open and the heaters were off. I stood at a fence inside the barn with a double needle in my hand and injected every bird that was brought my way during the 3 and a half hour job. I don't usually mind vaccinating night. The work is not hard and we generally have a good time with everyone. But tonight my teeth were chattering and morale was getting a little low. Then my brother, knowing I was awfully cold, brought me a mug of coffee. I tell you, I think that was the BEST coffee I have ever had! It was just a home brewed coffee put in an old tim hortons travel mug, but WOW! It made me feel SO...MUCH...BETTER!!! I just stood there while I was needling chickens, sipping my hot coffee. Kuddos to my brother! I think I thanked him that at least 10 times. This is a time when a coffee means the world to a person.

Making Supper
I wonder if she could get a job at say...the Olive Garden or something.....
I really think her presence would boost the overall morale of the staff in any eating establishment. They may, however, get a few more inspections from the Restaurant and Food Service Inspection.
